KinderReaders
was established in 2003 by Sandi Reyes, a Kindergarten teacher looking for a
better way to reach each and every student. By combining the ideas of
differentiated instruction, basic guided reading principles, and the creation of
a strong home/school partnership, our basic line of products was created.
We continue to follow research and expand our line of downloadable products to
coincide with recent findings. We offer printable books for guided
reading, with each story presented on 4 different levels. Our books are
based on the most commonly used themes in early childhood classrooms. Our
Nursery Rhymes To Go Series follows this same concept and adds some additional
activity pages. Our Word Wall/Picture Dictionary Sets serve multiple
purposes in any classroom.

Sandi Reyes
As a Kindergarten teacher who utilizes guided
reading books as one of my favorite teaching tools, I was frustrated by the lack
of materials available for me to incorporate into my themed lessons.
One problem I encountered was simply finding enough guided
readers with topics relevant to my theme. Another problem was not being able to
find books that would be effective for all my students, no matter what level
they were on. I felt that I had only two choices.
My first option was to use books that were outside the theme, but
because of my belief in the integration of content areas, that was not an
option. The only other
solution that I found was to use books that were not on the appropriate level
for all of my students. Neither of these choices was an acceptable solution for
me. Therefore, the only thing left to do was to create my own readers. In
doing so, I have not only solved these two problems, but I have also ignited my
students' interest in reading so much that guided reading is their favorite time
of the day.
As you use these books in your classroom, I know that you will
begin to see in your students the excitement that I have seen in mine.
